Between Us

Please note: This is a demo, not a full concept. The descriptions here are brief and don’t fully capture the project.

About

Between Us is about people and relationships. It’s a bit hard to summarise, but it’s a slice-of-life story viewed through a lens of realism.

If we view this story through the eyes of my protagonist, William, his story is about grief and learning how to live with it. This is just a starting point, and it evolves into something complex, inherently vulnerable and honest.

Why them?

After many years of developing this story, these characters came to truly shape what it became. I had characters come and leave, but this cast settled, and rightfully so. I genuinely would fight for all of them! I’m not even kidding!

I must, however, highlight William, Charlie, and Rachel. They make this story special to me. I normally give a little part of myself to each of my characters. These three might just take it to another level. Not in the self-insert way, mind you! I treat all my characters as their own people. Simply put, I relate to them a lot, and I grew with alongside them.

Worldbuilding

It’s a modern setting, although it did start as a fantasy project back in 2017-2018.

This work does deal with normal everyday things, even the boring stuff. The way I see it, boring activities can be fun to read – you just have to make them mean something.
