Prism No.4
Please note: This is a demo, not a full concept! The descriptions here are brief and don’t fully capture the project.
About:
Prism No.4 might just be the most proportional mix of comedy and drama out of all my projects. It’s like an even slice of an apple (or a cake). A bit crazy how that works.
If I were to set expectations, I’d say this story feels like an alien sitcom that gets a little too serious sometimes. Exactly what I love about this one!
Also, to clarify, Prism No.4 is a planet belonging to the Prismatic Galaxy. There are 12 planets in total! The fourth one is where most of the main characters live.
Featured Characters:
As much as I’d like to include everyone, I need to omit the antagonists, but the rest are good to go!
Cain
An ex-soldier who is dealing with a drug addiction and PTSD. He’s also a very loving father to his parasite boy, Gigi, though, he does mess up a lot.
Gigi
Parasites are feared by alien society and are usually killed, but due to the circumstances of how Gigi came to be, well, he was reluctantly approved. Despite everything, he's the sweetest boy there is!
Beezly
Beezly comes from a militaristic galaxy Laz-Noork. She holds the title of an Ak-Kurrok (bright/rising soldier) and currently works as a special agent for the Prismatic Galaxy. She lives with Cain and Gigi due to particular circumstance we shall not visit just yet.
Sugar
Cain’s sister and a brilliant scientist. She hates Cain, but adores Beezly and Gigi.
Seb
Cain’s best friend and work buddy. Seb also has a very loving family.
Buzzing
Buzzing, the main mechanic of the Prism No.4., is a little bit obnoxious.
Starfall
Starfall is a friend Cain met at the party. She is very gentle and calm.
Chib
Chib is Cain’s boss! She’s very busy and everyone is so incompetent!
Why Them?
They form a well-rounded cast, and each of them is important to Cain’s story.
I’m specifically excited to write about Cain. He’s dealing with a lot, and the topics explored in his story are very heavy. Yet he's someone who runs away from that and tries to pretend the worst parts of his life don’t bother him.
I take good care of my characters, and I always write with a belief that I’m writing about a person, not just a fictional creation. It’s important for me to represent different parts of humanity, even if they are dark or harder to digest.
Worldbuilding:
It’s an alien story, featuring different Galaxies! So, yes, it’s quite expansive, but I also keep it grounded within my main cast.
After all, this story was never meant to be this “epic and grant” adventure. Sure, there’s action! But I love writing from my heart, things that are very personal and intimate. Which shaped this story into what it is.
And yes, it was created at around 2020 too. It was a busy year.
Why is this a featured project?
I feel this project quite a bit in my heart. The fine line of comedy and drama is what got me hooked in it in the first place. Cain is a character I felt I simply had to write about. In a way, it’s a story about hope, and I find that great.
Just to mention, this whole thing started from the most random doodle I did. It was kind of ugly, a little trippy, and not even in my usual style. But in that doodle, I saw Cain, Gigi and Beezly – and in that moment, I knew I had found something special.
